Clan McKenna recommends that those searching for their ancestors undertake a DNA test. Many people have discovered their place of origin by this means. We find that the most popular DNA testing company is Ancestry.
Once results are received it is also recommended to register with GEDmatch.com and upload their raw DNA. This can enable many to discover thousands they share their DNA with and can pinpoint their areas of origin where, in many cases, distant relations are to be found.
Also, of benefit is the various Ancestor Projects on GEDmatch one of which is McKenna Genealogy Research.
